Actress Laya was born in a Brahmin conservative family in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The actress was seen as a classical dancer and pursued her degree in B. Tech from Siddhartha College of engineering. She is a talented classical dance and gave more than 50 stage shows in Andhra Pradesh, madras and abroad.


Actress Laya was never interested in acting, but here entry into films happened as an accident. However, she is now a proud winner of Nandi award, which is like an honor given by government of Andhra Pradesh to many movie artists.


Actress Laya is a native actress from tollywood, but since she was among heavy competition, she did not gain great career in the Telugu film industry. Actress laya rose to fame with her film Swayam Varam in 199 and then was seen in the film Manoharam which was in 2000. She earned Nandi awards for her acting in both the films. Laya was also seen in the film Missamma, which was in the year 2003 and was a super hit.

After marrying a doctor, Laya choose to quit films and flew to United States. But later on she came back to India and was seen as a Television reality show host on ETV.
